I sat on the upper deck of the Sir Robert Bond and looked at the waves moving away from the stern of the boat. It was early morning and there was a fog bank on both sides of the ship moving across the water, dispersing as the ship pushed through it christian louboutin outlet. There was a chill in the air so I wore a heavy sweater. The fog had been very thick during the night and the ship's horn blew every few minutes. We arrived in Cartwright last night just before dark. The boat stopped for two hours as the crew unloaded construction equipment and other supplies. Myself and Colleen with an American from New York walked through the small community and surveyed the harbor. It was very quite and most people were sleeping except for a few who were observing the work and passengers who were waiting around. We watched some crab fishermen unload a crab boat and the American took out his video camera. There were a couple of sports fishermen standing on the dock displaying a couple of large salmon. We took a few pictures and returned to the upper deck of the ship. I took my binoculars and surveyed the small community. I watched a couple fishermen unload a couple of boxes from a small boat and wondered what they were unloading. Someone said they were large snails and there was a small market for them enough to pay for the fisherman's gas.We stayed on deck until the boat was loaded and then went downstairs for supper. The American was a very friendly person. We played a game of cards with him while talking about Newfoundland and Labrador and the State of New York. There was another American from Michigan who joined us. We went back up on the top deck to see a beautiful glow in the sky and it looked like the sun was setting below the water. There was a shout from one of the passengers and someone pointed at the water. A number of dolphins were swimming along the side off the ship. They were coming out of the water showing their backs and fins. One of the fish dove under the water and you could see its silver body as it rolled over and disappeared under the ship. We scanned the horizon in the faint light with the binoculars and caught sight of a couple of whales coming up to breathe. We sat on the upper deck and watched for a while. The wind was chilly so we moved downstairs to the bar.It was an entertaining night. We sat setting at the bar with Mike the American from Long Island when Colleen noticed a glow on the water. It was a spectacular sight. The sky had taken on a beautiful glow. We noticed what appeared to be islands off to the right. We glanced at them with our binoculars. They took the appearance of large flat rocks or flat buildings or a resemblance to a large flat boat or barge. They reminded me of an aircraft carrier. The objects took different shapes but maintained that flat top look and eventually disappeared from site like a mirage. I was curious so I asked the Captain what it was we had just witnessed louboutin sale. The Captain explained it was a mirage that occurred on hot days just after sunset. It was a combination of heat, light,Christian Louboutin N Prive, and the haze from a hot day. The Captain could not remember the correct name but it was a strange, rare and beautiful phenomena that occurred under the right conditions. The Captain himself had only seen it a few times in twenty years. He invited us to his quarters for a drink and gave us a tour of the control engine and the control room before he retired for the night. After breakfast we went up on the top deck. The fog was starting to lift and the sun was appearing over the hills. We could see buildings and a highway on the left side of the ship. There was a small break in the hills that gave way to a small cove that was protected from the forces of nature and you could see a number of boats hauled up on the beach. There were four or five houses just above the beach creating a picturesque view. One of the passengers said it was a place called Cottle's Cove. I recently talked to a person who was born Cottle's Cove and owned a cabin in the area Cheap Christian Louboutin. The ferry swung to the left and then to the right making its final swing toward its destination. We could see the roofs of houses in the trees on the right and some people were out in the early morning chill sitting on their patios watching the boat maneuver its way to the docking facility. We watched a speed boat circling around the ship and than back toward the dock guiding the ferry to the small town. We could see the docking facilities and people standing around. I wondered if John and Jennifer were waiting at the dock and with the rental car. There were a lot of passengers standing on the deck looking at the view, some with cameras and binoculars others just looking and pointing.John and Jennifer were waiting on the dock with the rental car. They noticed Lewisporte was a tidy town. There were a lot of boats hauled up on the beach and tied to wharves. There did not appear to be much activity in the area. After checking into the Brittany Inns we went to the restaurant for coffee. John had a meeting with a few business men in the area at eleven a christian louboutin shoes.m. and another meeting at two p.m. in Grand Falls about an hours drive from the hotel. It would give myself and Colleen an opportunity to talk to the local people and gather information on political issues like the ferry run between Lewisporte and Goose Bay.Colleen and I have made that trip a number of time. We always found it to be a beautiful boat ride.2010 may be the last year for Sir Robert Bond to be in service. The highway from Goose bay to Blanc Sablon Quebec was opened in late 2009 and the Sir Robert Bond has become very expensive to operate.Thank you for viewing my article.
